My work focuses on intimate places in my immediate environment. My most recent works looks at the farming life in rural Ireland, capturing the relationship between farmers and their land. This connection is not just practical but deeply emotional, rooted in generations of tradition and values tied to family farms. I primarily work with the mediums of pencil and charcoal, to explore the raw details and textures that show the fragility and importance of these spaces. Negative space plays a big role in my work, as I feel it reflects the quietness and stillness I try to portray.  

  

I have a particular interest in the legacy of farmland and how it has been passed down through families, along side stories, culture, and a sense of belonging. However, this tradition is under threat, as younger generations are stepping away from the farming life. Through my work, I want to preserve the memory of this way of life, honouring the dedication and sacrifices of farmers who have given their entire lives to their land. It’s a reflection on both the beauty and the challenges of a tradition at risk of disappearing. Through my work, I hope to share a sense of place and invite viewers to pause and appreciate the subtleties of the world around them, just as I do in the spaces I call home.

In my previous projects I focused on the intersection of shared and private spaces, using pencil and paint to capture the intricate details that define the personalities within my college apartment. Each object, from the cluttered sink to the overstuffed fridge, tells a story of individuality coexisting in a collective environment. By studying these everyday belongings, I want to show how we express ourselves through the items we choose to keep, share, and neglect.

The fridge and the sink serve as symbols of communal life—their contents and disarray reflecting the unspoken dynamics of shared living. In contrast, I turn to my private drawer to explore intimacy and self-identity, focusing on the objects that remain unseen by others but hold personal significance. The juxtaposition of these spaces reveals a narrative about how we navigate the balance between community and individuality.
